Charming Chalke Valley Retreat

The Cat and Moose is a stylishly designed self-contained cabin set in four acres of rural idyll in the grounds of Mascalls, a
part-16th century Grade II listed stone house in the heart of the Chalke Valley. The River Ebble flows through the tranquil gardens providing nesting sites for a wealth of birdlife, while wildlife abounds in the surrounding  woods and fields.

The nearby village of Broad Chalke is home to the award winning Chalke Valley Stores and Coffee Shop; housed in a former chapel, it is run by local volunteers, and in its first year won the annual Countryside Alliance award for best Village Shop & P.O. in the UK and Ireland. Nearby the village pub The Queen's Head serves excellent food. The Chalke Valley itself is a quiet agricultural community with a rich historical legacy; for the past four years it has hosted the week long Chalke Valley History Festival, with a growing nationwide reputation.

For those seeking culture, Salisbury, nine miles away, has a nationally recognised Playhouse and Arts centre and an internationally acclaimed Arts Festival each May to June,ß while those in search of history will enjoy Stonehenge, Salisbury Cathedral, Wilton House, Wardour Castle, Longleat and Bath, all within easy reach. The beaches of Poole, Studland Bay, Swanage and the Purbecks are also easily accessible, in little over an hour.
For cyclists and walkers The Cat and Moose is an ideal centre, as public footpaths lead in all directions from the house without the need for a car, and there is a cyclists' network offering interesting and varied routes away from main roads. Meanwhile,  for those simply in need of a rest, the cabin offers a romantic retreat with a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
